The Sigma 70mm f2.8 DG Macro Art Lens is the first macro lens in the art line offering its users top-level performance at every shooting distance thanks to the incorporation of an extending, floating, two-group focus mechanism. The optical system utilises two FLD glass elements, two SLD glass elements, and one element featuring a high rate of anomalous partial dispersion in addition to high index of refraction. Combined these elements minimise axial chromatic aberration. The resolution has been increased at close shooting distances thanks to the two aspherical lens elements. In addition to this the user can achieve razor-sharp in-focus area which contrasts with a bokeh area free of colour streaking.
The direct mechanical connection found between the focus ring and the focus drive system has been eliminated thanks to the focus-by-wire system. The newly developed DC motor adjusts focus for optimal speed and low noise which is controlled by SIGMA's newly improved algorithm. The user is able to utilise full-time manual focus even during autofocus allowing for precise focus adjustments by turning the focus ring. This lens is ideal for macro photography because of the focus ring's large angle of rotation which enables the user to accomplish extremely precise focusing.
This lens eliminates chromatic aberration as well as residual chromatic aberration also knows as "secondary spectrum". The lens includes up to three types of exclusive low-dispersion glass: Extraordinary Low Dispersion (ELD), Special Low Dispersion (SLD), and "F" Low Dispersion (FLD). Thanks to these as well as the optimised power distribution this lens provides the user with excellent image rendition which remains unaffected by residual chromatic aberration.
